Big applause for Mother Nature! This is indeed one of the
most beautiful places on the Dominican Republic that I’ve been to. About 10 km
past Puerto Plata, direction Santiago and close to the town Imbert, this place
breaths fresh air and fills its visitors with a deep sense of peace and
tranquility.
This
was my second visit to this incredible place. The first time, I did the 12
waterfalls with my dearest Sofia. Second time around went with an amazing group
of fun and joyful people – Khris, Eric, Jerome, Noemi, Ed and Karina – that
without a doubt made the trip be complete. This time we went for the 27 jumps
and if someone would ask, this is the best choice.
When
you do the 27 waterfalls, you walk for about an hour up the mountain, but not
much more than the 12 waterfalls, and with a less inclined pathway. So it is
worth it! And the entire trip back is made by jumping from one waterfall to the
other. Some places you swim, others you just slide and of course, you walk.
This wonderful journey takes about 3 hours. When you do the 27, the first jumps
you are asked to do are quite simple and not so high, which helps preparing to
the biggest one with about 12-13 meters (the first jump for those that select
the 12 waterfalls). Jumping that high gives you an unimaginable rush! Your
Adrenaline levels go up the scale and you just want to continue jumping and
jumping while craving for more. It is super fun and you get to laugh and play
and just live the moment, appreciating the views and the work of nature in
sculpturing those pathways in sedimentary rocks for the Damajagua river to flow
and meet its end.
When you arrive at the end, you can appreciate a typical
buffet meal (with an awesome potato salad that I’m just crazy for) and relax a
little on the sun before getting back on the road.
It’s a perfect activity for a Sunny day with friends!
And for me, it really was J
